Midway Ice Castles | Homestead Resort

A few weeks ago, we were able to visit the Ice Castles of Midway at the Homestead Resort! I was super excited, as it was my first time visiting! I went straight to The Salt Project's past Ice Castle articles to see what I needed to bring. (We've pulled some of our past photos, as we went at night. It's a little difficult to capture the ice castles at night especially with kids! Every year the ice castles are different, but this year they are just as lovely. You can still find all the slides, some for the younger kids

Just dreaming about when these beauties will be open this year! Cross your fingers for December! In the meantime, check out our past post here!

Coupon | Kangaroo Zoo | Field Trippin'

We’ve been loving all this warm summer weather! I mean, we went to a playdate at the park in February! It was amazing and beautiful and just what we all needed. But Utah can be cruel like that. It can give us nice sunny skies and beautiful days earlier than we expected but then, just a couple weeks later, the forecast predicts rain all week. That rain always gets us down just as we were getting our hopes up that we’d be able to spend our days outside! When those rainy days come, we always take a trip to one

10 MORE Salt Lake City Wall Murals

Yesterday, I found myself in Salt Lake City with two babies and I wasn't quite sure what to do. It wasn't really a planned adventure, so I didn't quite have my bearings. Plus, I knew naptime was approaching and had limited time. So I quickly ran through a list of places...but realized I didn't really want to spend money. I also thought about Gilgal Gardens, but little man was already asleep before I could finish the thought. One of our most popular Salt Lake City posts is 3 Amazing Murals in Salt Lake City. So why not add some more

The White Pine Trailhead | Little Cottonwood Canyon | Adventurin'

Jamie is here to tell us a little about The White Pine Trailhead! We know it's going to be warm this week, so get out there and do something you wouldn't normally do with your advernturous self! One of my favorite ways to embrace winter is to get bundled up and just get out there! I love to get into the mountains where the skies are clear and the snow is sparkling white. The White Pine trailhead in Little Cottonwood Canyon right below Alta is a great spot to snowshoe. It has a parking lot and bathroom facilities. We went

Utah Indoor Swimming Pools | Dollar Swim Days!

I know it's cold outside, but as I was thinking outside the box for things to do in Utah, I thought, why NOT swimming? Plus, many pools have winter discounts, like $1 entry discounts. Here's some of the pools I put together, if you know of others, leave a comment. **Surf 'n' Swim | Layton City (above) Roy Recreation Complex | Roy City Clearfield Aquatic Center | Clearfield Provo Recreation Center and Pool *Marv Jenson Swimming Pool | Salt Lake City Sand Hollow | St. George Veteran's Grove | Pleasant Grove Kearns Oquirrh Park Fitness Center | Kearns (I'm not

Utah Museum of Contemporary Art | Field Trippin' | Free

We've got a new gal here on The Salt Project! Meet Camille: Mama, Adventurer and latest contributor to The Salt Project Team. She's here to tell you all about UMOCA. Family Art Saturday at the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art! Kids and adults alike will love the free family art activities offered every second Saturday of the month at the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art (UMOCA) in downtown Salt Lake City. My family and I have visited the UMOCA throughout the years to examine the terrific contemporary art exhibits that are constantly changing, but this was our first experience with

Heber Valley Railroad | Heber Creeper | Field Trippin'

Heber Valley is absolutely charming! After spending the day watching the Sheep Dogs and take a tour at Heber Valley Cheese, we headed to the other side of town to check out the Heber Creeper. It was fun for the kids to see the old trains. My great grandpa worked on these trains! And my Grandma Milly worked at Union Station in Ogden years ago. So I told stories about their connection to the trains, and they walked around and explored. On the main street (coming from Midway toward Heber), before you turn off for the Heber Creeper, there is

The Leonardo | Field Trippin'

The Leonardo is a favorite in our family, so the kids were thrilled when to be hosted for an evening of Spooky Science last week. Unfortunately we only had 40 minutes to explore because I didn't check their hours before we went. I just saw that there were Spooky Science Experiments at 3:30 and 4:30 on Thursday and assumed that they were open all night, but they close at 5 on weekdays. I was super bummed but it wasn't worth another drive to SLC to come on another night. We decided to make the most of it and ran around

SLC Pepper Mural 250 S. 400 W. Salt Lake City For all you Beatles fans out there, this one was done for you! It's a remake of the original Sgt. Pepper's cover. The Sgt.
