List of Winter Businesses in Bear Lake harm Wed, 02/07/2018 - 20:12
Ever wonder what one does during the winter in Bear Lake? While, it's true, most of the favorite stuff to do is in the summer, winter in Bear Lake should not be forgotten. There's something about hunkering down in a cabin, with a fire, gazing out the window at the frozen Bear Lake. Or maybe you are super adventurous and go snowmobiling, snowshoeing or even ice fishing. Either way, let it me known, there is more to Bear Lake than just swimming and boating. Below is a list of the businesses that are ACTUALLY open in the winter. (I'm sure
Scenic Drive : Cathedral Valley and The Temple of the Sun/Moon harm Fri, 07/14/2017 - 14:20
Choosing to do this long drive ended up being a wonderful idea because my kids SLEPT. So, for families who have toddlers/kids who still need that mid-afternoon nap I absolutely recommend doing this. Do a hike or two in the morning and then instead of trying to get them to sleep in a tent or dealing with grumpy kids, go on a long hike and have them sleep in the car! (If your kids can sleep in the car that is, not everyone is lucky.) The views on this road are GORGEOUS. The road is in pretty good condition too
Hickman Bridge Trail | Capitol Reef National Park harm Mon, 06/05/2017 - 20:49
I love seeing arches and natural bridges! At least for me, I feel awestruck at seeing such land features. It’s so crazy that mother nature put such a thing here! It’s a pretty scenic trail too. I have seen reviewers refer it as “relaxing”, but maybe not so much when you have a set of toddlers, and you get a later start in the day, and it’s hot. This is a trail that is 2 miles round trip. The trail head isn’t too far away from the visitor’s center. Although one of my twins did have some serious struggles, my
Broken Spur Inn | Torrey harm Thu, 09/15/2016 - 20:48
Welcome, to The Broken Spur Inn! I was pretty excited to stay here. It has an awesome view, swimming pool, home baked goods, restaurant and cowboy attire. All things to make the perfect stay. The room was clean and organized. The bathroom, even cleaner. (I have morning sickness all day and so I made a prompt inspection on the toilet, unwillingly.) I love rooms that have themes, I think it makes for the whole experience. After spending a few minutes at the swimming pool and hot tub to get the last of the wiggles out we headed to bed. (Somehow
Capitol Reef National Park Day 2 harm Thu, 09/15/2016 - 19:46
Welcome to Day 2 of Capitol Reef! We only spent half a day in Capitol Reef National Park, so here's the 3 things we did. 1. Visit Goosenecks Overlook We woke up from The Broken Spur Inn, had a delicious breakfast and headed out. It was fairly cool for being the middle of the desert, but after 15 minutes walking out to Goosenecks Overlook we were sweating! We were soon taking off all the layers we had so carefully put on. Goosenecks Overlook is pretty amazing, not quite as cool as this Gooseneck but lovely nonetheless. The kids got quite
Capitol Reef National Park harm Thu, 09/15/2016 - 19:22
We woke up from our stay at Escalante Outfitters, walked the slot canyon near Boulder and after half a day of exploring, we finally made it to Torrey Utah. You might be wondering where all these little towns are in Utah, well, South-Central Utah is the best description. Why are we even in that part of Utah? It was my husbands super long way to drive to Monticello, which is in South-Eastern Utah. See, we were suppose to go to the Grand Opening at the Canyon Country Discovery Center in Monticello and my husband refused to drive the same way
Lake Powell With Kids harm Tue, 08/16/2016 - 20:37
Lake Powell is amazing. Lake Powell with kids is amazing and entertaining. Lets face it, you go on a vacation without the kids and all you can think about is how much fun they would be having if you had brought them, or everything you do and see, you're think about how much the kids would love to see it or be doing it too. We've all been there. Now I'm not saying to never leave the kids home, I'm just saying that traveling with kids, seeing the world through their eyes is pretty amazing and I never regret bringing
Things I WISH I had in Lake Powell harm Wed, 08/10/2016 - 21:44
As a family we put together a list of "Must Have" items for a trip to Lake Powell. These are items we took and LOVED, or didn't take and wish we had. Paddle Boards We took paddle boards down, and I wish we had taken MORE! They were a HUGE hit with everyone (ages 9-57). They were rarely parked at the side of the boat. Everyone was taking them out one after the other. This was the BEST thing we took on the trip! We rented from Green Adventure Sports in West Point, UT. They are right off the freeway

Goblin Valley State Park

Goblin Valley is a State Park. It was on our bucket list this year (along with Lake Powell), and we just happened to pass in on the way to Powell so we decided to hit it up on the way home. It's about 10 minutes from I-70 to reach the park. I couldn't believe we were really going to see the valley of Goblins! I was so excited. We were fresh off the boat from Lake Powell, still in our swimmers and sandals. (there were lots of red ants, I got bit, so we recombined closed toe shoes) There are
