Little Haunts at This is the Place Heritage Park

The moment the air becomes crisp and the leaves begin to fall we get excited because it means Halloween is just around the corner. I have yet to meet a child that doesn’t love getting dressed up and while parading around the neighborhood collecting more candy than their little eyes could ever dream of. It’s simply magical...so why not start the celebrations early by heading to Halloween Haunts hosted by This is the Place. We’ve always loved this is the place but it becomes extra special during their Halloween Hoots. There are all the usual activities to look forward to

This Is The Place Heritage Park | Pioneer Day

I basically couldn't think of a more fitting place to celebrate Utah's Pioneer Day than at This Is The Place Heritage Park so we were thrilled when they invited us out on Saturday. Apparently when the Mormon Pioneers, who settled Utah, first came into the Salt Lake Valley from Emigration Canyon on July 24th, 1847, their leader Brigham Young stopped his wagon at the current location of the park and declared that This Is The Place! 10 years later the first Pioneer Day was celebrated and now it has become an official state holiday that we can use to remember

This is the Place Heritage Park | Salt Lake City

Baby Animal Days is right up there with Christmas in our family. If the kids even hear me mention the word and they start jumping up and down with cheers! (not exaggerating.) We planned a family field trip so Dad could join in. We go early to avoid the crowds and so glad we did. It's nice to just enjoy the animals and attractions without feeling rushed or waiting in line. When we left the park around 1pm there was a line out the door for tickets! The chicks are my favorite! The river is their favorite. The gold mining

This is the Place Heritage Park | Christkindlmarkt

We just got back from the Christkindlmarkt in Salt Lake City! It's a Traditional German Christmas Market that makes you feel like your in Germany in a quaint village shopping. It's not too big, or too small, even though all of their animals were minis or babies. They have a petting zoo. Visits with Santa (we just happened to go when he wasn't there, but my kids prefer this.) Amazing little boutique shops. Delicious pastries, baked fresh that day. Be sure to visit Petra's Backstubchen! Candy (Candy Everything) that looks just like toys! Live musicians and parades. Tomorrow is the
