Hiking the Narrows | 12 Utah Staycations
harm
26 November 2019
Hiking The Narrows has been a life long goal of mine. I always pictured a big trip down to Zion with a group of people, taking a guided tour for an all-day hiking experience. Well our schedule got switched around and our Sunday morning was wide open, so when I saw people riding the shuttle in full gear I knew they were hiking The Narrows. I tracked down some gear to rent at a local spot just outside the gate of the park and then reached out to our amazing followers online for some tips. They encouraged me to go

Things to do in Zion with Kids | 12 Utah Staycations

22 November 2019
Zion National Park has so many epic hikes. I mean, Angel's Landing, The Subway, The Narrows. The whole world knows about these hikes. While they are epic, they are too epic for some young kids, like mine. I've been to Zion National Park so many times I feel like I've hiked everything there is to hike with kids. This last visit to Zion National Park was a little tougher because SOOOO many of the kid-friendly trails were closed! Weeping Rock (closed indefinitely) & The Emerald Pool Trails were closed for maintenance. We made the best out of the situation and

If you find yourself at the Overlook Hike, then you are right where you need to be to find the Pine Creek trail. This trail is NOT clearly marked in any way. The trail head is located in the parking lot right as you exit the tunnel. There is a sign to follow the path under the road/bridge. You will be able to see somewhat of a trail. Follow that down into the slot canyon. Small children will need help down but I think they would have fun exploring the canyon. Once you are down, head to the right. The

.We were able to stay at Cable Mountain Lodge right at the mouth of Zion National Park! It. was. amazing. Just image waking up to these views every morning. Seriously, you can’t get a much better view. We got in around 9:30 pm and all the Christmas Lights were up. There’s something kind of magical about getting in late and not really knowing where you are staying. It’s the best feeling to wake up the next day and take it all in. Here are some of our favorite features about Cable Mountain Lodge! The Views! From any point, at Cable

Hike Hidden Haven near Parowan
harm
9 July 2019
Hidden Haven in Parowan! Who's hiked this before? Not us! This easy hike is 1.4 miles that ends at a waterfall. We've literally driven by this hike SOO many times. This giant sign is there to tell the world and we just drove by it like three times this year already. Once when we were at Brian Head during our Cedar City Staycation and then another time when we were driving through the canyon on the way home from Bryce Canyon Staycation. It only took a family reunion to get us to this sweet hike and we ALMOST didn't even

5 April 2019
The last time we hiked Timber Creek Overlook Trail, I think Aiko must have been two and Orion was just a baby. I don't think The Salt Project was even around then. Timber Creek Overlook Trail might be the most popular trail on this side of Zion, due to the fact it's only 1-mile roundtrip. We saw lots of kids on the trail and lots of other people too. It was like have flashbacks with tiny Vesper and Farah. The Kolob Entrance to Zion has only just opened up after having some road work done. I kind of miss the
Three Peaks Recreation Area | 12 Utah Staycations

5 April 2019
Three Peaks Recreation Area is an AMAZING County park 10 miles out west of Cedar City. As a college student, we went out to have paintball wars, go bouldering and bike out there. Not a whole lot has changed in scenery, but they have updated the area quite a bit. Like, there's a whole pavilion you can rent out with swings nearby. But the BEST parts? All the boulders. It’s an amazing place covered in granite boulders. I mean COVERED. The rocks for some reason are very rounded and it’s perfect for scrambling around for everyone. You can mountain bike
