Patsy's Mine | Adventurin' | Farmington

Harmony here! Optional .25/.5 Hike addition to Patsy's Mine We read about this hike from a friend on Facebook. (Thanks Danika!) Melinda researched a bit and found that it was a pretty short hike (.7 miles) and kid-doable. We packed up our troop and hit the trail at 8am. It was going to be hot, so we hoped to miss most of the heat. We had decided to hike the extra .25/.5 miles (depends on which trail you follow) instead of actually parking on the dirt road. The only way to the dirt road was 15 minutes away and the

Feature Friday | Red Cliffs Recreation Area | Southern Utah harm Sat, 06/06/2015 - 00:18
Our family loves southern Utah. We enjoyed living in Cedar City for 2.5 years, but due to the busyness of life, we never really took the time to explore the area's awesome outdoor activities. Now we live in northern Utah and find ourselves wanting to go back to the St. George area for vacation every year! There's just something about the red rock and sun that draws us back! This past spring, we enjoyed a day's visit to the Red Cliffs Recreation Area, which is part of a larger National Conservation Area. We chose it for ease of hiking for

Holbrook Canyon Trail | Bountiful | Hiking

First of all, let us introduce you to the newest member! GoPro hero3! You'll probably notice the pictures are a bit wider and different looking. Our first hike with the whole gang! With 11 kids ages 9 months to 10 years, it actually and surprisingly went really well. We heard that the hike was only 2 miles, then we heard 7 miles, then I just read on the Davis County Map that it's 3.3 miles roundtrip. The map also claimed to have a water fall and pool at the end. We're not sure how far we went, as we didn't'

Nicholls Park | Castle Park | Bair Creek | Fruit Heights | Adventurin'

Updated * 12/6/2018. THIS PARK IS NOW GONE!!!!!!! Word has it a new one is coming. This park is probably more commonly known as "The Castle Park in Kaysville." Because castles. Are you guys always on the look out for a good park? I had no idea this park even existed until last year, funny how having kids exposes you to the "park life." Little Aiko can spot a slide from miles away. Bair Creek Stephanie introduced us to this little nature trail. There are probably multiple ways to access the trail, but we took the trail just east of

Roadtrippin' | Frontier Homestead State Park | Southern Utah | Cedar City

Stephanie continues her Road Trippin' Series! We had just arrived in Cedar City after the long drive from up north and we needed to stretch our legs. I saw a road sign for the Homestead and thought I would check it out. There is a small museum that we explored in about 15 minutes, then we went outside and let the kids run crazy! They could have done laundry and played school all day. There are classes availabe on the weekends for spinning and weaving. Sadly, we were there during the week. They also loved mining for gold and and

Roadtrippin' | Red Cliffs Hike | Southern Utah

The top two photos are from Harmony's trip to Red Cliffs years, like 5 or 6, long before the #ohniceandchubbybabies. She went during March, so we tried to stay out of the water as much as possible. We've since seen photos of people swimming and want to go back! The following photos are from Stephanie's trip to southern Utah with her kids. The trail was kid friendly, they were so excited to see waterfalls, but we must have come at the wrong time of year. The kids(7-9yrs) were pretty excited to see a tree that looked like an elephant. Early

Grubbin' | Brad's Food Hut | Cedar City | Southern Utah

After exploring the Frontier Homestead, we were starving! We jumped in the car and headed across the street. They had me at the big red roof. It had a small town feel and I was sure the food would be fabulous. I was right! Juicy burger, amazing fries and I couldn't resist the fried mushrooms. They didn't disappoint. Since we were on vacay, I let the kids order chocolate shakes to dip our fries in, but Brads has killer fry sauce, so if you don't like your fries in your shake, they have you covered. Oh and my favorite detail

The Pizza Cart | Grubbin' | Cedar City | Roadtrippin'

Roadtrippin' to Southern Utah this weekend?! Make sure to check these guys out everytime you head down south. After hiking around in Iron County all day the kids were famished. Apparently they were getting sick of trail mix and granola bars, so we promised them fresh hot pizza. As parents that needed to eat too, this meant finding a good pizza place. After asking around and getting advice from a few of the local Cedar City folks we found the The Pizza Cart. Having never tasted their food yet, we looked into them and were instantly in love before ever
