Red Fleet Paddlefest | 12 Utah Staycations

Red Fleet Paddlefest is a yearly event at Red Fleet State Park. I’d never even heard of Red Fleet before and it’s truly a hidden gem. Just a few miles outside of Vernal is this red oasis of water. Red Fleet was named for the rocks that surround the reservoir that look like a fleet of ships. It really does. Paddlefest is a free local event where everyone has a chance to paddleboard, kayak, and canoe on Red Fleet. Basically, anything it a paddle. There was even a trampoline on the water! All the activities were free and there was

Balloons & Tunes Round-Up | 12 Utah Staycations

We spent this past weekend hanging out in Kanab for our second Utah Staycation! First things first! We woke up bright and early to head out for Kanab's Balloons & Tunes Festival! Word had it there was going to be over 30 balloons floating in the air. Years ago, my husband and I were lucky to meet a balloon pilot while I worked as a waitress. Paul was super sweet and invited my husband and me to come fly with him! So of course we did! We learned how to put up and take down a hot air balloon, seriously

Illuminate Light Art & Technology Festiva

Tonight my husband and I took our kiddos, ages 1 and 3 to Illuminate at The Gateway in downtown Salt Lake. Illuminate is a light art and technology festival, the first of its kind here in Utah and I have to say I hope it’s around for many years to come. It’s a festival that appeals to both young and old and helps you really appreciate the city in a whole different light. My kiddos couldn’t get enough of the 30+ amazing light art displays at various indoor and outdoor locations around The Gateway and they loved the crafts and

Park City's Autumn Aloft Balloon Festival

We attended Autumn Aloft in Park City this year. This is a weekend celebration that is held every year in Park City. They invite Hot Air Balloons from across the country to join in the celebration. It attracts quite a crowd so be sure to come early. This year was a little rainy and cold but once the sun came up it was perfect! Check out their website for details. They give free tethered rides in balloons, and you get to stand right there on the field to watch everyone go up! I surprised my husband with a ride in

Visit Kid Row at Craft Lake City | 9th Annual Craft Lake City DIY Festival

The other weekend we headed to craft lake city as a family! Normally we attend the event as a date night without the kids but this year Craft Lake city hosted a special Kid Row...so we couldn't resist taking hem too and checking it out. Our kids loved going to such a "grown up" feeling event. Once we got to Kid Row, their eyes lit up when they saw the bounce house and face painting! Along one side of the kids corner were these cute little booths run by kids. All ages of kids were selling anything from homemade buttons

Utah Scottish Festival & Highland Games 2017

I am in awe of families who travel abroad with little ones in tow. I get inspired by their stories and photos and start thinking to myself that I want to go on an adventure to somewhere across the world with my husband and sons. Then I take a trip to the grocery store with my 2 year old and 6 month old and it about does me in and I wonder what I was thinking! Although we’ll be holding off on visiting any foreign countries for now it doesn’t mean we can’t teach our children about different cultures in
A Few Reasons You Should Visit Spring City for Memorial Weekend harm Tue, 05/17/2016 - 22:40
Have you ever heard of Spring City, Utah? I'm not talking about Springville, but Spring City (totally different place). If you haven't heard of this charming historic town (one of the only towns in the USA registered in its entirety on the National Historic Register), you MUST put it on your bucket list of places to visit in Utah. Located in Sanpete County, just north of the city of Manti, Spring City is utterly enchanting. It's full of gorgeously preserved pioneer homes and other buildings from the mid-1800's, and is also home to a vibrant artist community. One of the

Utah State Fair | Adventurin'

My kids love going to the fair. We usually go to our county fair every year, but unfortunately we were out of town the week of our fair this year, so we decided to visit the State Fair instead. Now the Davis County Fair is free to get in the gates, you just pay for all the food, rides and some attractions separately once you are in. At the State Fair however, you pay for both your entrance, and activities inside. Since we paid for our admission this time, we needed to find a few ways to save money once

Greek Festival | Grubbin'

Don’t be discouraged that summer is almost over. It’s not too late to take a $3 getaway to Greece for the weekend. Beginning Friday, September 11th, at the Holy Trinity Cathedral campus in Salt Lake City, visitors can experience the sights, sounds and tastes of Greece. There is so much to do at the festival; from eating Greek food dishes, church and museum tours, to watching and participating in traditional Greek dances. Salt Lake City has one of the largest Greek communities. Beginning in 1935, The Mothers Organization, who we now refer to as Philoptochos Society, started the Bazaar which

Soldier Hollow Classic Sheepdog Championship | Adventurin'

We were so excited to go to Soldier Hollow Classic today. Swiss Days was in full swing, the roads were lined with cars, so if you're planning on attending Swiss Days, go early! Soldier Hollow is just a few miles from Swiss Days and there are signs along the way to help you find your way. When we arrived, we could hear the bag pipe playing and people cheering. I'm a wannabe farmer at heart and Babe is one of my all time favorite movies "Ba-Ram-Ewe". So when I heard about Soldier Hollow Classic (Sheepdog competition) I literally gasped out
