Timber Creek Overlook Trail | 12 Utah Staycations

The last time we hiked Timber Creek Overlook Trail, I think Aiko must have been two and Orion was just a baby. I don't think The Salt Project was even around then. Timber Creek Overlook Trail might be the most popular trail on this side of Zion, due to the fact it's only 1-mile roundtrip. We saw lots of kids on the trail and lots of other people too. It was like have flashbacks with tiny Vesper and Farah. The Kolob Entrance to Zion has only just opened up after having some road work done. I kind of miss the
Three Peaks Recreation Area | 12 Utah Staycations harm Fri, 04/05/2019 - 23:05
Three Peaks Recreation Area is an AMAZING County park 10 miles out west of Cedar City. As a college student, we went out to have paintball wars, go bouldering and bike out there. Not a whole lot has changed in scenery, but they have updated the area quite a bit. Like, there's a whole pavilion you can rent out with swings nearby. But the BEST parts? All the boulders. It’s an amazing place covered in granite boulders. I mean COVERED. The rocks for some reason are very rounded and it’s perfect for scrambling around for everyone. You can mountain bike

Pork Belly's Eatery & Catering Co | 12 Utah Staycations

We hadn’t heard of Pork Belly’s before and we have to say, it was DANG good. Not only dang good, but the service was SUPER fast. With 5 adults and 9 kids, they were able to bring out a large amount of food in excellent timing. Also, the food was REALLy good. We had everything for BLT sandwiches, to salads to ribs. All of it was tasty and so filling. Anyone else's kids eat vasts amounts of sugar? The one time we let them be alone on a "Big Kid" table and this is the aftermath. (FACEPALM + PARENT FAIL.)

Parowan Cafe Cinnamon Rolls | 12 Utah Staycations

Parowan Cafe is family owned and is home of the “original” cinnamon rolls. Parowan is known for their cinnamon rolls and you can find them all over. They have raisin and plain. This cafe is so stinkin cute! Parowan is definitely going to be our “pit stop” next time we are passing through. Also, they were so sweet to offer everyone BOGO FREE cinnamon rolls when you mention The Salt Project! #THESALTPROJECT when you go! YES! Go grab one and let us know what you think.

Parowan Dinosaur Tracks | 12 Utah Staycations

Harmony said I should stop at Parowan Gap on our way out of town from Cedar City. So we did of course. But first, I searched The Salt Project for her post about it so I could make sure I didn't miss anything. I thought the Gap was just the petroglyph, but it turns out a bunch of dinosaurs roamed this valley millions of years ago and left some prints in the mud and now you can find them plastered all over rocks. If I'm being honest, I never in a million years would have even noticed the prints, but
Parowan Gap Petroglyphs | 12 Utah Staycations harm Fri, 04/05/2019 - 22:29
We pull up, after Harmony's suggestion that we visit, but before reading her post about Parowan Gap, and my first thought was, "we came all this way for a petroglyph"? Well, I jumped on the blog, luckily I had just enough service to see her post and discovered there was WAY more than meets the eye. As we walked through the canyon there were dozens of petroglyphs. I was inspiring and humbling to see these ancient writing all over the rocks. I was totally geeking out actually. This is the first one, but just wait... This place is like an

Hike Thor's Hideout in Thunderbird Gardens | Thor's Lookout | 12 Utah Staycations

Thor's Hideout is a new trail located in the Thunderbird Garden in beautiful Cedar City! It’s part of the new Thunderbird Gardens, literally tucked on the east side of Cedar City. Cedar Sports told us it's a cool place to go mountain biking, but we decided to try hiking it. The trail is 1.3 miles one way and with the word “Hideout” we knew it was for us! Plus...there's a bonus! We hiked the extra .3 miles to Thor's Lookout and there's a big surprise there! Scroll to see it below! Thunderbird Garden is a trailhead for mountain biking, OHV

Park Place Eatery | 12 Utah Staycations

After doing Thor’s Hideout & Lookout hike, we decided to grab a slightly lighter, late, dinner. While I’ve been to the Park Place (ahem) a few times, I was pretty excited to share this local gem with Stephanie and her crew. I knew they would die over the Crepes. I knew you WOULD also love the crepes! I mean, they look amazing and smell amazing too. Best party. They ARRE FREAKING AMAZING. The kids quickly INHALED it all. We tried the Berries & Cream, The Lemon and Sugar (my personal favorite) while Stephanie's Favorite was the Cinnamon and Sugar. The

Nature Hills Farm | 12 Utah Staycations

Nature Hills Farm is a sweet little farm in Cedar City that's family owned and open to the public! We took a self-guided tour around the property. Perfect little pit stop on our way out of town from Cedar City. The only drawback is that our GPS took us through the smallest tunnel known to man. I was seriously having a panic attack as we drove through it.
