Hiking the Narrows | 12 Utah Staycations

Hiking The Narrows has been a life long goal of mine. I always pictured a big trip down to Zion with a group of people, taking a guided tour for an all-day hiking experience. Well our schedule got switched around and our Sunday morning was wide open, so when I saw people riding the shuttle in full gear I knew they were hiking The Narrows. I tracked down some gear to rent at a local spot just outside the gate of the park and then reached out to our amazing followers online for some tips. They encouraged me to go

Saratoga Hot Springs | 12 Utah Staycations

The first time I heard about these hot springs was last Oct 2018. I was participating in the Questival Race and one of our challenges was to jump into a natural hot spring. It was late, dark, and FREEZING! We parked, changed into swimmers, ran down the path in the dark, had no idea what we were jumping into, stayed for a minute and then ran back to the car so we could compete another challenge. I wasn't planning on visiting again in October, but this time we were equip with light so we could actually see what we were

Mona Rope Swing | 12 Utah Staycations

Since we had an RV and nothing planned but hitting up a bunch of places that have been on our list FOREVER! Of course we had to stop in Mona to check out the rope swing. It was about 40 degrees out so we opted not to jump in, but my kids did try out the swing, you know, to make sure it was a worth a trip back in the summer. We are definitely coming back in the summer! We just typed Mona Rope Swing into the GPS and if took us right there. There is a small parking

Bonneville Seabase | 12 Utah Staycations

Did you know that you can Scuba Dive or Snorkel in the middle of Utah's Desert at a place called Bonneville Seabase?! NEITHER DID WE? As we drove around the Great Salt Lake, visited the Sun Tunnels, ate at a buffet in Wendover and drove through the Bonneville Salt Flats, I realized we didn't have anywhere to stay for the night. While searching for RV spots to camp I found this listing and I was like "I don't care how much it is, we are staying the night at Bonneville Seabase!" Luckily, it wasn't expensive. It was like $5 to

Meadow Hot Springs Spot 2 | 12 Utah Staycations

After visiting U-Dig Fossils in Delta, Steph's fam headed one way and we headed another! Another perk of RV Trips! You can go wherever you want! Stephanie visited Meadow Hot Springs the day before and we visited the next day. The last time I visited Meadow Hot Springs was in February 2016! Goodness, it's been too long! The first spring is always busy. The kids loved wandering around the edges and playing on the mossy rocks. Don't forget floaties for the kids. How funny is the toilet inflatable? Ha, we thought it was a spaceship, but come to find out

Meadow Hot Springs | 12 Utah Staycations

Another bucket list item that has been a long time coming, Meadow Hot Springs! Check out our original post HERE for ALL the info. RVing to hot springs is my new favorite thing. It was so nice to be able to have a warm place to go and change after swimming. Harmony's post led us straight to the spot! There are 2 pools but the one with the dock is cooler, and since it was pretty cold we decided to stay put. These springs are pretty deep, so you definitely want floaters for littles. You can stand around the edges

Kokanee Salmon Run at Porcupine Reservoir 2019

On Monday, my crazy sister asked if I wanted to run up to Porcupine Reservoir and check out the Salmon Run up there. We'd literally just done the Causey Salmon run two days before and I thought, WHY NOT?! So off we went. I called a friend and soon we had 3 adults and 4 kids under the age of three in our car. Porcupine Reservoir is located in Cache County and really isn't that much farther than Causey Reservoir for us. It took us 58 minutes to drive from Ogden to get to Porcupine Reservoir. We drove in as

Kokanee Salmon Run at Causey Reservoir 2019

The Salmon Run this year in Utah has been kind of weird. 2019 has been full of rain, cold weather and then heat. I'm sure the salmon don't even know what to do anymore. We sure don't! I've actually had tried getting up to Causey Reservoir for the kokanee salmon run two different times and have been thawrted by cold, rainy weather. We FINALLY succeeded on Saturday! Be sure to read about my checklist for a successful Salmon Run at Causey below. Honestly, this trip almost didn't happen for a number of reasons. The clouds were making things look iffy

Mantua Reservoir | 12 Utah Staycations

Right next door to the Little Valley Country Store is Mantua Reservoir! It's a beautiful reservoir that's normally a good place to go swimming. Except this time of the year the water has been sitting a while and now people are told not to go swimming because of swimmer's itch. We've gone plenty of times previously and never had a problem. We didn't really notice the signs UNTIL after everyone had been playing in the water. Be sure to check those before swimming. We washed right off quickly and luckily, no on had drank any of the water. We're happy

Crystal Hot Springs | 12 Utah Staycations

We closed out our Brigham City Staycation with a good old trip to Crystal Hot Springs in Honeyville Utah! We've been coming to Crystal Hot Springs for years now and we LOVE it! Crystal Hot Springs has recently made some changes to their resort too! There's a whole new cave area with a shallow pool. Our kids spend the majority of the time here. Don't forget about the giant tube slides! Our kids LOVE the slides! The slides are open all year round and even in the winter it's super fun. Be sure to bring some water as the Hot
