Kokanee Salmon Run at Strawberry Reservoir for 2019

We love the Kokanee Salmon Runs in Utah! My friend Elle ran up to Strawberry Reservoir (9/22/2019) and wrote up some details for us! Sounds like Strawberry is a super family friendly area to visit the Kokanee Salmon! Be sure to check out our past Salmon Runs here. I mentioned to my dad that I wanted to go check out the Kokanee salmon run at Causey. He mentioned how cool they were to see at Strawberry. That you could see them right from the boardwalk, and see the trout running too. So last Sunday we made the trek up to

Bloods Lake Trail | Big Cottonwood Canyon harm Tue, 07/09/2019 - 15:55
Last week while the kids were at Summer Camp with Utah Children's Theatre, I snuck away to go hiking (By myself, no children! Pretty sure this has never happened.) with Lisa from Off The Couch! Since we were in Lisa's territory I let her pick the hike, Bloods Lake in Big Cottonwood Canyon! I'm pretty sure that's I've never hiked ANYTHING in this canyon before, which, is just ridiculous. I've seen and heard all about this canyon for years but it's always eluded me until now. We got lucky and found a parking spot (right by a snow bank.) The

Midway Ice Castles | Homestead Resort

A few weeks ago, we were able to visit the Ice Castles of Midway at the Homestead Resort! I was super excited, as it was my first time visiting! I went straight to The Salt Project's past Ice Castle articles to see what I needed to bring. (We've pulled some of our past photos, as we went at night. It's a little difficult to capture the ice castles at night especially with kids! Every year the ice castles are different, but this year they are just as lovely. You can still find all the slides, some for the younger kids

Süss Cookie Company | Grubbin' | Midway Staycation

Do you remember the first time we showed you Süss Cookies? It was back in the Summer and Jamie over at Wonder & Scout brought in Süss cookies. Süss Cookies are from the ever charming town of Midway. Stephanie and I have both agreed. These are the best cookies The Salt Project has ever had. I daresay the best ones I've had in my life. I don't just say these things lightly. It's probably a good thing I don't live in Midway, I'd be over every day. Should I be ashamed to say I've tested MANY cookies since The Salt

Homestead Resort | Midway Staycation

This past weekend, The Salt Project was lucky enough to be hosted by the Homestead Resort in Midway for a quick Staycation. We went up mainly for the Ice Castles and Homestead Resort, but you know we had to hit as many places as possible. All of which we’ll write about in the next few days. The Homestead Resort is one of the most charming places to stay, probably, because it’s an amazing historic area. The homestead opened over 125 years ago and it makes one feel like you've stepped back into time. Not only is the main building beautiful

Snake Creek Grill | Grubbin'

After working up an appetite exploring the Midway Ice Castles, we were starving! I've wanted to eat in this cute little place for years! It looks like an old ghost town, or a western town from a movie, but there are shops and restaurants in the old buildings! This is a photo of Snake Creek Grill while they were filming a movie on location once. All of the old buildings here were brought here years ago from Idaho, and the owner of Snake Creek Grill said they have been there for 19 years! Pretty amazing! They had some pretty fancy
