UMFA Free Family Third Saturday

Give your kids a little dose of culture and take them to the Utah Museum of Fine Arts (UMFA) for their Free Third Saturday event! The UMFA is a real, legit art museum. It’s very quiet and the art shouldn’t be touched. My kids had never been in this sort of environment before. At first I was little nervous. Surely they were going to break something. But we talked about museum etiquette before entering and they did a great job practicing it throughout. It was a new way to teach our kids about manners and respect. And I really loved

Pumpkin Days at Wheeler Park

Have you guys ever been to Wheeler Historic Farm? It’s a real working farm right in the middle of Salt Lake City. They have horses, cows, pigs, sheep, and many more animals for your littles to admire. Visiting the farm is free. You can check out the animals and explore the woods. You can also bring your dog, if its on a leash! Wheeler Historic farms also has a variety of activities you can pay to do. Wagon Rides, Historic Farm House Tours, and Cow milking. But, if you come for Pumpkin Days, they have even more fun stuff to

Gilgal Sculpture Garden | Adventurin'

Remember how Melinda featured Gilgal Sculpture Garden on Studio5? Brittney is here to tell you a little more, from her adventure. Sometimes the hustle and bustle of a city can be overwhelming. The energy of Salt Lake City is always great but sometimes a quiet little oasis is just what the doctor ordered. If you’re in need of a quiet and calm retreat, let me suggest Gilgal Sculpture Garden. Gilgal Garden is quietly tucked between two houses right in the middle of town. It’s just off 7th East and 500 S in Salt Lake. I had my GPS guide me

Utah Children's Theatre's Haunted Theatre Spooktacular

The ghosts of productions past are coming back to put on a fun and spooky variety show. The Prima Donna, the Opera Star, the Prima Ballerina and an Old Hollywood Starlet are here to "relive" their glory days on the stage. With the help of the living manager, Mr. Arthur Avalon, these misfit ghost create a variety show that will delight children and adults of all ages. This show is so fun for kids, they have the entire theatre decorated for Halloween and everyone from the ushers to the actors are in awesome costumes that help to set the mood

The Prettiest, Easiest Hike | Silver Lake Loop Trail

I’m excited to share Silver Lake with you! Silver Lake is a place you have to know about! It’s the place we go to when we need to get out of the house and into nature but aren’t quite up for ditching the stroller and dragging the kids up a mountain. The Silver Lake trail might be the easiest hike you’ve ever been on. I can’t even bring myself to call it a hike, it’s more of a nature walk. BUT, it’s the prettiest nature walk you’ve ever been on. The path around Silver Lake is about ¾ mile long

Cherry Hill | Adventurin'

Let's talk about this crazy place called Cherry Hill. I grew up less than 10 minutes from this place and somehow never went near it! We are just going to be talking about their water park, which is just one of the many features here! Cherry Hill is wayyyyy bigger than I expected. There really is something for everyone to do of all ages. There is a toddler area with a pirate ship, fountains and a little water slide. Aiko actually really loved the little water slide. It was the perfect size for a small two year old. They have

Adams Canyon | Layton | Adventurin'

Steph here, Growing up, we always had to hike Adams Canyon with our youth group. Of course it was always at 3pm in the dead heat of the day. I'm not a fan of the heat so I never liked this hike, until.... I did it on my own. I like to hike early in the morning, before it gets hot. Plus the trails are always less crowded. This is a popular hike in Layton and weekends and holidays are always busy. You can see cars parked all the way down the road from the trail head. I recommend going

Giveaway | Classic Water Slides | Riverdale | Adventurin'

You might want to stick around, because we've got some passes to giveaway and a 2 for 1 deal on admission! We have the most incredible hidden gem to share today! We have driven by this place for years and every once in awhile I would catch a glimpse of some blue slides camouflaged inside a forest of trees. This year we decided to go check it out. Right at the top of the viaduct there is a small sign for Classic Waterslides. Turn there. You drive under the viaduct right next to the train tracks. There is a small

Spiral Jetty | Great Salt Lake | Britney

Brittney is back! She's writing all about Spiral Jetty. (See our post on Utah.com) It's definitely one of my favorite Utah adventure destinations. Here's a little background info for you. In 1970, Robert Smithson used over six thousand tons of black basalt rocks to form a coil 1,500 feet long that winds from the northeastern shoreline of the Great Salt Lake and into the water. He name his work "Spiral Jetty". Its pretty awesome. We made the mistake of trying to tack this trip onto the end of an already adventure filled day, and our kids just didn't make it

Glamping Do's and Don'ts | Adventurin' | Conestoga Ranch | Bear Lake

Hello! It's Steph, first time Glamper here. I'll be sharing the things we loved as well as things we wish we had know. We would definitely do things differently next time. We had the opportunity to stay a couple nights in Bear Lake at Conestoga Ranch a couple weeks ago. I'm so excited to take you on a tour of the Ranch and share the Do's and Don'ts of Glamping. Day 1 There are two things I'm kind of obsessed with. Food trucks and Glamping. I don't know what it is, but I'm o.b.s.e.s.s.e.d.! We locked in our date for
