Uintah County Vernal Central Library

This post is written by my Mother in Law. We were lucky enough to have both grandmas come along with us to Vernal. So this article is written by Walker Grandma (as the kids call her.) On our visit to Vernal, after we had exhausted all of the museums and places for little ones to hang out. We decide to check out the Vernal Public Library and were richly rewarded with things for kids to do. We walked inside the front door and our little man Orion immediately went to the book display and pulled a book off the shelf

Uintah County Heritage Museum

Since I was at a conference, my mom and Mother in Law spent the day with the kids. We'd gotten a few people saying to go visit the Heritage Musuem and since it was FREE, the Grandmas said they would take them. This is written by "Joan Hesley Grandma's" point of view. (my kids come up with the weird ways to say grandma.) We didn't get any photos of the inside, so you'll just have to go and visit! But we did get some photos of the outside, with the Dinosaurs! This was a fun and interesting little museum. It

Utah Field House of Natural History State Park Museum

We've got a whole bunch of new cities to write about! To start off, we'll begin in Vernal. You've probably been to Vernal, but it's probably been like 15 years right? Well, if your story is the same as mine, you'll be please to know that Vernal is totally an awesome city. If you have family that loves dinosaurs, you'll love everything about Vernal. We started our first day with a visit to Utah Field House of Natural History State Park Museum. AKA the Dinosaur Museum. It's right off of main street and you can easily find it with the

Natural History Museum of Utah | Vikings Beyond the Legend

I recently was able to visit the new Viking Beyond the Legend exhibit at the Natural History Museum of Utah with my kids. This is an impressive exhibit and full of fascinating history about the people living in Scandinavia between AD 750-1100. This exhibit is immersive and vast, featuring over 400 artifacts! There really is so much beautiful history and information provided through this exhibit that I would recommend everyone experience it for themselves! Here are my top 5 reasons you and your kids should visit, Vikings Beyond the Legend. 1. Over a dozen interactive displays that immerse you into

Loveland Living Planet Aquarium | Field Trippin'

*This post is sponsored and part of Mom It Forward Influencer Network but The Salt Project's opinions are 100% our own. Brittney here! Can you believe I'd never been to the Loveland Living Planet Aquarium? My kids went with their Grandma while she was in town for the birth of our baby but I had never been. It's amazing that you can visit exhibits from all over the world. Journey to South America, Expedition: Asia, the Deep Sea, the South Pole or the Ocean! My kids were so excited to play tour guides for the day and show me all

Columbus Library | Salt Lake City

Is anyone else starting to get a little stir crazy at their house? Winter in Utah does this to me every year. We get a couple of really nice spring days and I start to get really excited. I plan some fun trips to get us out of the house and then we get another snowstorm that ruins all of my plans. So we are always looking to places we can get out of the house without having to spend what feels like two hours getting my kids dressed to go outside and play in the snow. One of the

Small Wonders: The Expansive World of Insects | Swaner EcoCenter

Leading up to Earth Day (April 22nd) the kids and I are exploring some amazing exhibits and parks in Utah that highlight natural wonders and Earth conservation! Our first stop was the Swaner Preserve and EcoCenter in Park City, to check out their newest exhibit, Small Wonders: The Expansive World of Insects. Running now until Monday May 15th. Normally I'm not one to "Ooo and Ahh" over insects! However, the displays of preserved butterflies, beetles and other small wonders had the kids and I completely fascinated! Being able to get a close up look is really neat and the exhibits

Utah Territorial Statehouse : Utah's First Capital

Did you know that Utah's first State Capital was in Fillmore Utah? We were passing through Fillmore and saw a sign for the Statehouse so we decided to stop and check it out. I'm so glad we did! The museum is only $1 for kids $2 for adults. We were on a time crunch so we rushed through it in about 10 minutes, but the attendant said that most people take about an hour to get through the self guided tour. The hall of photographs of local founders was my favorite. So much history in one place. Then each room

2$ Tuesdays at Jungle Jim’s Playland

When I first learned about 2$ Tuesdays at Jungle Jim, set aside from being in awe, I was SAD that no one had told me about this before! I have 3 year old twins and a 4 year old. When my husband is working late, evenings can be pretty brutal. However, Jungle Jim’s has saved my sanity on crazy Tuesday nights. Also, adults with children get in FOR FREE. Jungle Jim’s is located in Midvale, super close to the Fort Union Exit off of 215. It has indoor carnival rides, an arcade, and an area to throw birthday parties. It’s
