Willis Creek Slot Canyon | 12 Utah Staycations

Willis Creek Slot Canyon is located in Kane County in Kanab! It's a super sweet slod canyon that's more of a walk-as-far-as-you-want hike. We’d been told by the Activity Spot in Ruby’s Inn that Willis Creek Slot Canyon was THE coolest family-friendly hike. So, of COURSE, we had to go. Willis Creek Slot Canyon is about 20 miles away from Ruby’s Inn. Half of the trip is on a paved road, while the rest is all dirt road. The gal at the Activities Desk said she’s just been the Sunday before and didn’t need 4WD at all. The dirt road

Ruby's Horseback Adventures Wagon Rides | 12 Utah Staycations

Looking for an activity for the whole family? Look no further! We went on a horse-drawn wagon ride from Ruby's Inn and it was amazing! We have 9 kids from 8 months to 14 years old, so it’s kind of hard finding an activity for so many ages. Be sure to enter our giveaway from Garfield County that also includes a wagon ride! We LOVED our Wagon Ride. We were SO lucky to get Arkansas Dave! Arkansas Dave is a semi-retired Cowboy from Arkansas who spends his summers working his Belgium Draft Team, Daisy and Fred. The 1 hour Wagon

Hiking Shakespeare Arch & Sentinel Traill | Kodachrome Basin State Park | 12 Utah Staycations

Man, I’d seen a few photos of Kodachrome Basin State Park and KNEW we needed to visit! Kodachrome State Park was named after Kodak Film in the 1940s which had just come out with color film. Kodachrome is known for their chimney like spires that jut out all over the ground. We hadn’t packed lunch, so we knew we probably had limited time before everyone got hangry. I asked the ranger which hike he would do if he could only do one and do it with a bunch of kids. He suggested Shakespeare Arch and Sentinal Hike. It was only

Breakfast Having traveled monthly now, we now know one of the MOST important things to have at a hotel is BREAKFAST. It’s EVEN BETTER to have it be a free continental breakfast. CAN I get an AMEN?!? Nothing is worse than havin to deal with kids first thing in the morning and not know where breakfast is coming. Swimming Pool When traveling with families, you know

Red Canyon | 12 Utah Staycations

I’ve been by Red Canyon quite a few times before but have never stopped. This time, I made sure it was on the itinerary. After swimming at the hotel and eating some dinner at the Cowboy Buffet and Steak House we decided to do a quick trip to Red Canyon and go exploring. Red Canyon Visitor Center has very limited hours, so we weren’t able to go inside, but we did explore. It was SO much fun. We followed some trails and then climbed some big boulders. While Bryce Canyon National Park is magical in its own right, Red Canyon

Bryce Canyon City Park | 12 Utah Staycations

The horseback riders weren't quite done, so we decided to hit up a park after visiting Bryce Canyon National Park via car. I spied this park on our way into town, I don't recall it on our last trip, so I think it's fairly new. After after kids, I realized, I ALWAYS have 15 minutes to let them run around and get some energy out. It helps everyone get the wiggles out and makes the car ride just a little bit more enjoyable for everyone! Thanks to Garfield County for sponsoring our trip! You'll want to go and enter our
Mossy Cave Trail | Bryce Canyon National Park | 12 Utah Staycations harm Wed, 04/24/2019 - 21:35
Last time I visited there wasn’t even a trickle of water…so I’m glad I actually went back on this hike again, to help change my perspective. On our last day, we headed out semi-early to Mossy Cave Trail outside of Bryce National Park, that’s still considered part of Bryce Canyon. This .4 mile roundtrip hike is SUPER easy and you could probably do it in a stroller. In fact, we told a gal to do it in a stroller. The last part has two switchbacks that you might not be able to push the stroller, but I’d would give it

Ruby's Horseback Adventures | 12 Utah Staycations

I packed my cowgirl boots "just in case" we had the opportunity to go horseback riding on this trip. This is something that I always jump at the chance to do. I'm sure I was a cowgirl in a past life. I LOVE horses and just wish I had my own. But alas, I have to save this special opportunity to ride when we go on vacations. But I'm ok with it, it just makes the memory of our trips that much sweeter. This was your typical trail ride, nothing like the racing we did in Mexico, man those Mexican
