Bloods Lake Trail | Big Cottonwood Canyon

Last week while the kids were at Summer Camp with Utah Children's Theatre, I snuck away to go hiking (By myself, no children! Pretty sure this has never happened.) with Lisa from Off The Couch! Since we were in Lisa's territory I let her pick the hike, Bloods Lake in Big Cottonwood Canyon! I'm pretty sure that's I've never hiked ANYTHING in this canyon before, which, is just ridiculous. I've seen and heard all about this canyon for years but it's always eluded me until now. We got lucky and found a parking spot (right by a snow bank.) The

Rhiannon Here! Although we hiked loads in 2017, 2018 was not nearly as exciting- we had too many of our routines thrown out of whack. So with school out during Winter Break I thought I’d try to make up for lost time and I took my kids up Big Cottonwood Canyon to snow shoe a trail that we have frequently done without the snow, Mill D North. It’s across the road from Donut Falls (see our guest post here.) Round Trip would be anywhere from 4 miles to about 8 miles, it depends on where you are going- Dog Lake

We have hiked all of these

The thing that I have found helps me to get through winter in Northern Utah is embracing it. Once I am playing in the snow and admiring all the ice crystals it is then that I find peace. I feel so privileged to be living so close to MOUNTAINS. Seriously, I can be in so many mountains/canyons in less than 30 minutes. I personally love Salt Lake City so much for this very reason. It is so close to mountains and I find that frequently taking my kids outside helps me in so many ways. First of all, my house

Brighton Family Resort | The Most Friendly and Affordable Resort for Families

We live in the great state of Utah. Otherwise known as the state with the best snow on earth. I don't know how official that motto is but they print it I on the license plates so it has to hold some truth. And this year we have received more then 700+ inches of this best of the best snow, breaking records across the state. If there was ever a time to get your kids out on the slopes, this is the year! It may feel like spring down in the valleys but the resorts are estimating they will stay

Hiking Donut Falls in the Snow | Big Cottonwood Canyon

Welcome Alexandra! She's guest posting on a hike we've all had on our bucket list, but just never seem to get too. She's giving us some winter inspiration to go hiking! It took this California Girl a few years after moving to Utah before I was brave enough to go hiking in the show. I love hiking in the warmer months, but I'm not big into skiing or snowboarding and snowshoeing didn't sound all that fun to me with my toddler on my back (I'm more willing to try it now). A friend I met through Hike it Baby added
The Prettiest, Easiest Hike | Silver Lake Loop Trail harm Mon, 08/31/2015 - 08:33
I’m excited to share Silver Lake with you! Silver Lake is a place you have to know about! It’s the place we go to when we need to get out of the house and into nature but aren’t quite up for ditching the stroller and dragging the kids up a mountain. The Silver Lake trail might be the easiest hike you’ve ever been on. I can’t even bring myself to call it a hike, it’s more of a nature walk. BUT, it’s the prettiest nature walk you’ve ever been on. The path around Silver Lake is about ¾ mile long
