Recently, Auburn Soul (ie Steph) and I went to a conference in Ogden. We listened to the Mayor speak about the history of Ogden and it was mind blowing. For the first 100 years of Ogden, every train in America had to stop at Union Station to fill up on water. (Just imagine my brain going "POOF.")
Can you even imagine? My grandpa was a big train man, he could tell you the route of every train in America. He lived in Iowa but came all the out to Ogden because of the train history and to go to the train shops! (Alright, it may have also been to see his grandchildren, but honestly, even his own children knew he loved his trains more than anything else.)
Union Station has four different Museums, but we are only going to be talking about the FREE part. Free is always best right?
Outside of Union Station they have a bunch of trains, I mean, a BUNCH of trains. Every year they have the Hostlers Model RR Festival (March 6-8.) It's super cool, plus you can get into the other museums as well.
It's a great place to take the kids and strollers as it's all paved.
Union Station is quite large, so you can easily spend 30 minutes walking the grounds or pay for the tours. Check out their video and short history here. Or, you can head down to Historic 25th Street. Union Station actually faces 25th Street.
It's totally worth walking another 30 minutes. You can pick up some food, do a little shopping, or just chat with the shop owners. Whatever you do, just go on an adventure!
Don't forget to read about our girls day over at The Bake Shop. inside Grounds for Coffee.
Plus, I'll be posting some of my favorite spots on 25th street soon.
