Suspension Bridge - WINTER EDITION

January 21, 2022
12625 Highland Dr, Draper, UT 84020

After our hike we went to Lehi to ride the Timp bike path. It is paved for miles and it's pretty level.

We ran into a couple people that had our same board! We get asked all the time which boards we love. My personal fave is my White Wave. My kids love to use mine because its a super smooth ride. But they all have Retrospec boards because they are a little less, and I wanted to see if they liked boarding before investing.

I also love my board because its lower to the ground so I feel like it's the best to learn on. If I did it again, I'd pay the extra $40 and buy al White Wave. And don't forget helmets. These ones got awesome reviews and my kids love them.

We love our Woom balance bikes! This is how all of my kids learn to ride. And Woom will upgrade your bike! Send in your old one and get the next size up. So cool.

This hike is so easy! You can take your 5 year old, or in my case, your 3 year old.

What to Bring

  • Check out our original blog post HERE and see what this hike looks like in the snow!

Most of the hike is full sun, so even in the winter months, there might not be much snow.

    2.3 miles Loop trail

    439 ft elevation gain

    Dogs allowed on leash

    Bathrooms at trail head

The first half mile of the hike is mostly uphill as you climb switchbacks to get onto the Bonneville Shoreline Trail

    • While the trails are pretty well marked, it can get a little confusing, so make sure you bring the map with you or have it accessible on your phone. If you are following our exact steps, you'll pass TWO signs making your way north that may make you think you should take them, but just continue on north until you come to the sign that you see above with Orion in them.
    • There is not any shade on this trail so in hotter months you'll want to make sure to put sunscreen on and hike earlier or later in the day
    • Watch out for bikes along the trail because it is a popular area for mountain biking.
    • You'll want to dress in layers and wear appropriate footwear depending on the weather, it can get windy up at the bridge
    • Restrooms are only open seasonally.
    • Water Fountain at the main part of the trail.
    • Dogs are allowed on these trails, but please clean up after them! We kept stepping around dog poop.
    • Bring water and snacks!!
    • There are signs to watch out for cougars in the area. We didn't see any, but stay aware.
    • Be respectful on the bridge and follow posted rules about how to behave.
