The Porter Way Park is the go-to place in Tooele County for birthday parties, church get-togethers, family reunions, etc. With twenty-eight acres and a pavilion with bathrooms, it is the perfect park for large gatherings. The park is located at the intersection of Porter Way and Discovery Way in Stansbury Park. Its central location makes it a great place for Tooele and Salt Lake area folks to meet up.
It is also our go-to park when we just want to get out as a family or meet a few friends for a playdate.
We love this playground because it has something that every age can enjoy. The park’s website describes it as appropriate for ages 2-99
We recently brought our cousins (ages 8, 5, 3) to the Porter Way Park and it was fun watching the older two play on all the climbing structures. They spent most of the evening overlooking the park from the top of the playground.
My toddler found the perfect spot to sit and watch his cousins in action!
The yellow play structure is my two year old’s favorite because it is just the right size for him to safely climb, slide, and crawl around while still challenging enough that he doesn’t tire of it quickly.
He is convinced no one can see him when he is hiding in the tunnel!
One thing I always want to know if a park has is swings, especially the baby ones. It just makes life so much easier when the baby can contently swing away while we keep an eye on the toddler. This park has both regular and baby swings.
One thing I dislike about this park is that the pavilion faces away from the playground. There aren’t benches nearby either. Since there isn’t a good place to comfortably sit and watch your kids play we’ve started bringing a blanket to place under a tree. The park is newer so the trees aren’t very mature yet but we can always find a bit of shade.
The kids like to go to this park for the playground and I like to go for the walking paths! There is a mile long path around the exterior of the park with several other paths weaving throughout the interior. My kids know to expect a walk before we head over to the playground. With several bridges to cross over, a stream, and lots of wildflowers, they enjoy the walk as much as I do.
The paths are perfect for biking and rollerblading too!
We often pack a lunch and make an outing of our park visit. In addition to the seating under the pavilion, there are several picnic tables scattered around the park.
Another awesome amenity the Porter Way Park offers is an 18 hole disc golf course. It is such a fun activity for families with older children and teenagers or even a date night!
You will also find tennis courts, soccer fields, and a fenced baseball/softball diamond at the park.
For gatherings big and small, playdates or date nights, we recommend checking out the Porter Way Park.
