Newspaper Rock on Gila Trail in St. George

April 22, 2024
Snow Canyon State Park, 1002 Snow Canyon Dr, Ivins, UT 84738, USA

Gila hike, named after the Gila monster, pronounced HEE-LA is located on the outskirts of Snow Canyon State Park. We only hiked middle Gila which ended up being 4.46 miles RT. It was a beautiful hike full of sand, rocks, and petrified sand dunes, my favorite! Half was thru the hike we came to Newspaper Rock which is covered in ancient native petroglyphs. It was such a beautiful sacred place to experience. Definitely add it to your southern Utah bucketlist!

Wolf or dog

Many figures had 6 toes, believed  to be their tribes or family.

This slot canyon is covered in petroglyphs

My Movara hiking group!

And my fave hiking pants. Yall! my life is forever changed. I have slid down so many rocks in these and they look brand new! They are light, comfy, stay put, and are moisture wicking so if you walk through a river, your pants will be dry in no time. I know from experience lol.  Code Stephanie15 will get your 15% off your entire order.
