Have you been to the new House Of Corn in Sandy? Stop reading and go check out their beautiful website! Then come back, I'll wait....
A few years ago we went to Mexico for a Humanitarian Trip with our kids and absolutely fell in love with the culture, people, and street tacos! That is always our go to at any Mexican restaurant, so it was fun to be able to try some new things tonight. In addition to their beloved street tacos and Mexican Coke. (House of Corn street tacos passed the test by the way. Only difference was that they had about 3x more meet than the ones we had in Mexico).
They are serving up authentic Mexican City street food. Everything is fresh and made in house and the kitchen is open so you can see it all happening which is pretty cool. We tried it last week and can’t wait to go back. I can’t stop thinking about the BIRRIA quesadilla and the SOPE with cactus. The flavors and texture were all so good.
We love to order family style at new places so we can try as many things as possible. Everyone ends up finding something they love most and end up finishing it off.
To be honest, the only thing we had had before were the Street Tacos and Birria. We were so excited to try some new items like this Huarache.
The Sope! This was my favorite. I loved the texture and trying cactus for the first time. Don't panic if your not a fan of the spiky plant. You can order any topping you like, but I highly recommending trying cactus at least once.
They have some seasonal items like Pazole and an awesome stuffed Chile dish. They are both perfect for this cold weather.
I got to meet Mac, one of the owners. If you get the chance to meet him, you'll understand why he does what he does. He is SO passionate about bringing his traditional Mexican City food to the Salt Lake Valley for us to enjoy and experience. He focuses on Tradition, over Trends, so everything they offer is exactly as you would experience in Mexico City.
This is the Sope side view, the bottom is corn and bean blend, so the texture and flavors are SO good! And so unique.
They are open for business and hadn't even finished painting when we were there. Can't wait to see the finished product. It's going to look so good.
And last but not least, the Pambazo. Even the bread is baked fresh in their bakery! This was the item I was most excited to try because I feel like it's the most unique. The flavors were amazing!
Welcome to Sandy House of Corn! We are so excited to have you!
Go check them out and be sure to tell them The Salt Project says hi when you go. Can't wait to hear your favorite menu item.
