This past weekend, The Salt Project was lucky enough to be hosted by the Homestead Resort in Midway for a quick Staycation. We went up mainly for the Ice Castles and Homestead Resort, but you know we had to hit as many places as possible. All of which we’ll write about in the next few days.

The Homestead Resort is one of the most charming places to stay, probably, because it’s an amazing historic area. The homestead opened over 125 years ago and it makes one feel like you've stepped back into time. Not only is the main building beautiful, but there are a variety of sleeping accommodations. From the large white colonial style building with beautiful black trim to fields of grass and mature trees, I actually felt like people should be driving horses and carriages through the pastures. Be sure to check out the Crater Springs Golf Course (Seasonal obviously) and of course The Ice Castles!

We tested out the Bunk Rooms. Each room had two queen beds plus bunk beds tucked in a hidden room. Well, we told the kids it was hidden and they loved it. Plus, our bunk bed rooms shared a doorway into the other room so all the kids could run around. There was plenty of sitting space, a little nook to put the pack 'n' play for baby and a good size bathroom.

(Do you follow along on our Instastories?)

When we got back from the Ice Castles, all the kids wanted to do was swim, so at 8 pm, Steph took her troop to the pool (6+ her.) Our room was clean and tidy, but Steph’s side had been forgotten. Since she was going swimming, it wasn't a big deal. She opted to drive since it was late and the pool house was at the main area. I decided to stay back and put our littles to bed a little earlier.

While Stephanie was out swimming, the Homestead staff came and quickly cleaned up their room. It was indoor and had a huge adjoining hot tub. There was also a hot tub outside so the kids would roll in the snow then jump in the hot tub. The outside pool was closed for the season. Stephanie and the kids didn’t come back from swimming until 11pm. They LOVED how late the pool stayed open.

The beds were comfy, the rooms were quiet and we had a lovely stay. The kids slept in and we had a slow morning. Had there been more time, we would have tried out the Homestead Crater (which we've visited in the past here) but there wasn't enough time. After getting 7 kids, 2 babies and ourselves ready, we were ready to explore.

My husband stayed at the hotel with Baby V while she napped and he could work. Free WiFi and 12 check-out for the win! Once we got everyone into the car we headed over to Dottie's Kolaches Co. for breakfast.

We'll be hosting a giveaway with The Homestead Crater soon, so be watching our social feeds!
