What screams Davis County more than Francis Peak? Or better known to the locals as the "Golf Balls!"

We were staying at the Hyatt at Farmington Station for our Staycation and you have the perfect view of the Golf Balls.

When I first brought up the idea to Stephanie, she was slightly terrified. The drive up is not for the faint of heart. The dirt road is windy and sometimes it's one way. It's actually the reason the Car Graveyard Hike exists.

If you can make it all the way to the top, it's all worth the fright.

The view are spectacular. You can see all the way past the Great Salt Lake and then all the way past Morgan!

I've been driving this with my family for years and even when I was a kid my parents used to bring us up here. I remember the first time we came and my parents showed us how to sled in bags down all the snow by the golf balls. It's one of my favorite family memories. We've actually gone sledding with bags many times, here and here. If you don't have a sled, one usually has a grocery bag, perfect for sledding!

Man, I couldn't believe how much snow there was in the middle of July! One of the dirt roads was still completely covered by snow.

Keeping the tradition alive with my kids!

Who'd ever think about sledding in July in Utah?!

Just be careful about getting to close to the edge of the snowdrift, it's basically a drop off into Morgan.

The kids also loved exploring and finding bullets. They are now their most prized possession.

You can actually hike all the way to the observatories, there isn't a whole lot to see and it's not open to the public, but it's still kind of fun.

Plan on a couple of hours round-trip. Pack a picnic and some snacks too.

We've driven up Farmington Canyon to picnic and watch the sunset. It's pretty amazing. (See our fall drive here.)

The fun didn't stop here...check out where we drove to next!
