Ok ladies, I have to start off by saying that I have always admired people that do Barre workouts but always felt a bit intimidated by it. I'm not a ballerina, I'm not flexible, and I'm pretty average when it comes to physical activity abilities.

So when The Bar Method reached out to invite me to a class I was both thrilled and a little scared.

I recruited a couple of girl friends as one does when trying something new (always better to experience it with a friend) and we scheduled a time to leave the kids home with the husbands and have a little mid day GNO.

We arrived early for our class so we could park, get signed in, and take a little tour of the studio. It is located in a quaint old building with beautiful exposed brick along the back wall. The floor is carpet which is different from any other workout class I have taken before. They recommend wearing grip socks, but normal socks would be ok if you are in a pinch.  Leggings are great, or snug fitting shorts (like bikers).

Our instructor Carrie was INCREDIBLE! She was so helpful to us first timers and helped us feel comfortable as well as helped us with our form which made all the difference! Moving just an inch one way or another was the difference between an easy work out and having our legs shake like an earthquake! I can't say I've experienced anything like it before. I'm sure I used muscles I've never used before in my life.

Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE was so nice! We felt right at home the second we walked in.

The Bar Method is a boutique fitness studio offering barre classes for students of all levels. The signature method uses your own body weight, the ballet barre and a few props to create a transformative workout that results in long, lean sculpted muscles. Not only does it reshape your entire body, but it allows you to channel your inner strength and leave class feeling strong, confident and poised.

Highly-trained instructors customize the exercises to ensure they are safe and effective for any age and every body, including modifications for pregnant women and students with injuries. Our staff and community are here to support you from the moment you walk through the door.

The Bar Method Salt Lake City is located in the popular Sugarhouse district and features a welcoming lounge area, a beautiful studio room with charming exposed brick, and a lovely retail space. We're open 7 days a week offering many class options and times.

The class is tough, no lie. But our instructor was incredible. She helped with modifications that make it doable for all of us. Molly is a runner and athlete. I'm just average lol, I workout at home and hike a few times each month, but I'm not super strong. And Shannon just had a baby and is a total beginner. We were all at different levels physically but we were all able to do everything with different modifications.   They are a body positive studio, focusing on strength, not size.

The retail studio has some really cute stuff! They carry Lululemon, Vuori, and Beyond Yoga to name a few. Mention Salt Project for 10% off retail items during your visit.

Loved this,  success is just showing up.

Before our class: a little nervous

After: totally invigorated! We felt strong, centered and empowered. And a little taller lol, because you really work on your posture during the class.

They send you home with the sweetest gift after your first visit, a little bag of epsom salt so you can go home and soak after the best workout of your life.

And you don't want to miss this darling new mural on the west side of their building.

Be sure to check out my highlight bubble on Instagram under "Bar Method" to see some behind the scene of our experience and see what I'm talkin about when I said my leg was shaking like an earthquake. I kid you not.

My biggest takeaway was that this was actually really FUN! I don't typically use that word to describe working out. It was challenging without making me all sweaty and feeling like I would throw up (that actually happened in a boot camp class once).

It really is perfect for any age or skill level.

I highly recommend grabbing a friend or your husband and go try a class. It's always more fun with a friend. And be sure to snag your FREE 2 weeks! Info below.

Thanks for stopping by! We love to bring you all the best that Utah has to offer.
