Fernwood Fairy Forest
We wanted to make a fairy garden with our kids this summer for fun craft project, then thought, it would be even more fun to make a fairy trail! Something we could share with others! And help families have fun outside together.
Scroll to the bottom for map and tips
We put this together with our families in one night and would LOVE if you would like to add to it! There are so many cute fairy things at the dollar store on Amazon. Here are a few.
Be sure to tag @saltproject.co on instagram when you go so we can share!
We couldn't think of a more perfect location too! Fernwood! You have drive passed a real live CASTLE to reach the trail head.
Pass the picnic area and keep going until you find the trailhead parking lot. Follow the trail. Past the babbling brook, up the hill and across the bridge. Now pay close attention. Look for clues. You're almost there. About 10 giant food steps and look to your left. This is where the trail begins!
Please remind little humans to LOOK and NOT TOUCH so everyone can enjoy this fairy forest.
The trail has a few turn offs but all trails head east. There are 3 main open areas where you will find lots of fairies and a few along the trail as well so keep your eyes open!
You know you've reached the end of the trail when you find the treasure box. Take a peak, then put it back carefully for the fairies to guard over until you come back.
Adding to the fairy trail is ENCOURAGED!
Bathrooms and drinking fountain at trailhead
Trail details: 5 min walk from trailhead to reach fairy forest. 10 minute walk to reach the end (where the treasure chest is)
30 minutes total with exploring time .65 miles out and back
Once we found the fairy…
Once we found the fairy trail it was delightful. My 4 year granddaughter thought it was fun and loved finding all the little spots, gnomes, butterflies, and fairies. Thank you for creating this. Our challenge finding the trail was knowing where to start. The map provided sends you to a private road. If you let people know it starts from Fernwood Recreation Area. I didn't read that anywhere in the post and was unfamiliar with the Layton area, coming from SLC. But we discovered it and had fun. Thanks for your fun content.
We are going to go check it…
We are going to go check it out tomorrow, thanks for sharing!
