So I have a lot of Utah friends/readers asking me why we chose to live in Logan, Utah. The obvious (and true) answer is that we moved up here so Preston could go to Utah State University (go Aggies!) to study Aerospace Engineering, but it didn't take me long to realize I could spend my entire life in this little city and be completely happy. This is about when I start getting the weird looks.

"But it's so.....small...."

"They don't even have a Target!" << This actually does make me deeply sad.

"What do you do for fun?"

YOU GUYS! Logan is AMAZING. I've found that if you ask almost anyone who has lived here for longer than a year, they'll tell you the same thing: that they can't really explain it, but Logan is just special somehow. So I've deiced to put together my list of reasons why Logan is my favorite city in Utah.

// Sardine Canyon

This is the road you take to come in and out of my town, you guys. It might have a rather unfortunate name, but Sardine Canyon is hands down the most beautiful canyon I've seen in Utah.

// Cache Valley Gardner's Market

Voted one of the top 20 farmer's markets in America and 2nd best farmer's market in Utah, the C A C H E V A L L E Y G A R D E N E R S M A R K E T is incredible. If you know me, you know how I love a good farmer's market! The Gardner's Market is full of fresh produce, quality hand-made boutique items, and amazing local music. I can't imagine a better way to spend my Saturday.

// The Logan LDS Temple

Built in 1877 by early Utah settlers (all volunteers), the Logan Temple was the second LDS temple built in Utah. As most of you know, I'm LDS (M O R M O N), so all temples are special to me, but the Logan Temple is absolutely my favorite one. I love how it doesn't look like your typical LDS temple along with its rich history. It was love at first site with me and this gorgeous building. (The inside is incredible too.)

// Cafe Ibis

Making the freshest drinks and dishes for almost 40 years, C A F F E I B I S is one of my favorite places to escape my busy life and slow down for a bit. Ezra and I love walking down main street and wandering over to Caffe Ibis for a great Italian Cream Soda (peach is my fave) and so many unique pastries.

// Bella Me Boutique

Ladies. Ladies. You've got to make a special trip up here just for B E L L A M E. It's one of Logan's many hidden (not so hidden these days) gems. The parts of my wardrobe that aren't straight from my Grandma's closet or someone else's, come from Bella Me.

// The Charming, Old Houses

I get distracted driving through Logan's neighborhoods because of all the unique, old houses here. Not the safest, but who doesn't love to creep on someone's house when it looks like this?! One of my favorite things about Logan is that it is such a great mix of old and new. You still have your (2) WalMarts, movie theaters, and franchises, but you also have unique shops, locally owned restaurants, and charm coming out the ears. Oh, Logan, you've just stolen my heart.

// Main Street

One thing everyone can say about this town is that it has such an amazing community feel. Main street is lined with mom and pop stores that have been open for over 50 years and are still going strong. There is a shop for everything on Main Street, from upholsterers and cobblers, to clothing boutiques and tasty restaurants.

// Willow Park / Willow Park Zoo (see our post about the zoo here.)

With its wandering Peacocks and charming willow trees, Willow Park zoo is the perfect way to spend a day with your little adventurers. It's not as big as most zoos, so they won't feel overwhelmed. Not to mention it's only $2.50 (ages 2 and under are free) to get in!

Even though I'm pretty sure we won't live here forever (not too many jobs for rocket scientists in Utah), Logan will always have a special place in my heart. Have you visited or lived in Logan, Utah? What is your favorite thing about it? What is your favorite city?
