We have visited Sundance in the Summer, the Fall, and the Winter. But we have never #staycationed there and truly immersed ourselves in the full Sundance experience, until this week!

Y'all! I can't even put into words how much fun we had, but i'll do my best. First up, when you think Sundance, you think skiing! And so, I dusted off my 22 year old vintage goggles (from my college snowboarding class) strapped on some skis for the 3rd time in my entire life, and headed down the snow covered mountain praying that I wouldn't fall on my 41 yr old bootie.

And guess what! I didn't fall! I had a BLAST with my kids instead of cheering them on from the bottom of the hill, they were cheering me on by my side, encouraging me, giving me tips, and racing me (spoiler alert, I lost every time). Oh, and Dan, who skied a little growing up, but hasn't been on the slopes in 23+ years was KILLING IT! He went down all the big hills with the kids no problem. I'm so jealous!

Bottom line,  Skiing as a family is SO fun! Something I thought just wasn't possible because I wasn't raised skiing, but here I am, trying and learning new things. It's never too late!

There were all ages of beginners on the bunny hill with me. Such an inspiring sight!

Staycation Guide to SUNDANCE!

Did you know you can stay at Sundance? They have charming cabins, all unique to the last detail. We stayed in the River Run cabins with the most beautiful view of Timp, and the river bubbling down below our balcony. 

First, you check in at the lodge in this quaint little office, straight out of a scene from a scary movie. But it wasn't scary, but it felt like I was on a movie set.

He was laughing when I told him I felt like I was in a scene from a scary movie. He said people say that all the time.

Then he turns and hands me a real key to my room. So charming. Love the old school charm.

We walked through the snowy forest to our little cabin in the woods.




We stayed in the most charming cabin with a loft that the kids fought over of course. There was also a pullout bed and another room with a king. It also had a full kitchen, fire places, and a giant jetted tub.

So magical!

Bridalveil Falls

Located right at the mouth of the canyon, this hike is short, easy, and ends with breathtaking views of the most incredible waterfall. There is also a lookout right in front of the waterfall. You can pull right off the canyon road and park and take photos.

Gift Shop

The gift shop was overflowing with THE most charming items.

Art Studio

Next to skiing, the kids favorite activity was definitely the art studio. Click link above to check out our experience at pottery and silversmithing.

Skiing

My kids loved that the slopes are a little more gentle so they were able to have a lot of fun and not worry about getting into a sticky situation. The snow was awesome, the views were to die for, and the lift was lightening fast! 7 min to the first stop vs 20 min on the old lift.

My gloves, pants, and coat HERE. I love them all. I'm a firm believer that quality doesn't have to break the bank when it comes to gear, you just have to know where to look.

Bunny hill champ! No shame here. I had a blast.

Another thing we loved were all the wild turkeys everywhere, even on the slopes with us.
You can see Stewart Falls right ahead! This is a beautiful waterfall you can hike/snow shoe to.

I found an awesome deal on helmets and goggles for the kids for only $16. They both had great reviews and we love them. Once they can prove that they know how to take care of their gear, we will invest in some higher quality, but these have been amazing for our first year beginners.
