Sandy Amphitheater Splash Park

Alex is here to tell us about her favorite Splash Pad!

My boys and I have been exploring local splash parks to try and figure out which one is our favorite. Right now, it's the one at the Sandy Amphitheater!

The fact that it's the closest to our home is just an added bonus, but we love that the city of Sandy really made an effort to provide some shade during the hot summer months both for the kids playing in the water and the parents sitting down to watch. There are a few awnings that shade some sitting areas in addition to two that cover a small section of the splash area. There are also quite a few trees planted around, which will only provide more and more shade as they grow bigger. There's lots of grass surrounding the splash park with lots of space for picnic blankets and folding chairs too.

I love that there's something for all ages at this park; little bubbling fountains and rivers that are ideal for the littles, and big fountains for the big kids.
My boys love the wall of water at the top of the park. They like to walk underneath and try not to get wet. It's also really fun to bring some water toys and watch them float all the way down the little river to the bottom.

The splash park may be closed during some of the Amphitheater events, so it's something to consider if you're heading there, especially on a Saturday in the summer.

In addition to the fun splash park, the Amphitheater Park also has a regular playground close by that is more geared toward older kids. There really isn't anything meant for toddlers or preschoolers there. There is also a building with public restrooms and a covered pavilion with picnic tables. A little further to the east, there's a smaller pavilion with just two picnic tables and a big grassy area next to it.

Best of all, the park has a lovely view of the mountains. I expect it would be a pretty spot to watch the sun set.

Where is it? It's located at 9400 South 1300 East in Sandy at the top of the Quarry Bend shopping center. The easiest driveway access is along 9400 South. There's lots of parking, but plan on it being busy during an amphitheater event. The park is open to the public from 7am to 10pm daily, and the splash park usually opens for the summer around Memorial Day.

Thanks Alex!
