The Marmalade Branch, the newest branch of The City Library (Salt Lake City Public Library system), opens this Saturday, February 27! All are invited to celebrate from 10:00 am - 6:00 pm! My husband and I had the opportunity of touring the library firsthand before the grand opening, and I can assure you, it is a beautiful, stunning, and well-thought-out piece of architecture.

I can't wait for the grand opening to start taking my kids to story time and more at this awesome new library branch!
The murals were painted by 1,000 different students! Murals are localed out on the north side of the building.
Here's some more information on this exciting event from The City Library website:
The Grand Opening Celebration will commence at 10am on Saturday, February 27 with remarks from Salt Lake City officials and a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Activities suitable for all ages will continue throughout the day. The Marmalade Branch, located at 280 West 500 North in Salt Lake City, is The City Library’s eighth location. A key part of the Redevelopment Agency of Salt Lake City’s master plan for its block, this two-story facility will offer over 18,000 square feet of space for the growing Marmalade and West Capitol Hill neighborhoods. Features of the new branch include a dedicated children’s library, public access computer stations, a large, flexible multipurpose room, and a café. It also offers study rooms, an outdoor plaza, and over 40,000 new circulating materials.

And here's a juicy tidbit about the Marmalade Branch: my artist husband, Justin Wheatley, has a giant painting of Antelope Island hanging permanently above the main staircase.

This makes the grand opening of this awesome library even more amazing and meaningful to us! We will be taking our kids here for many years to come, especially because we live close to this branch. Long live libraries!

Plus there's a whole bunch of murals to add to The Salt Project's list! Check out the Mural List here.

Parking is available on 300 West and on 500 North. If parking gets too crazy on these streets, there are lots of other side streets to park on. Or you can try parking in the parking lot behind the LDS church building directly across the street from the Marmalade Branch (right on 500 North).
You're making me miss Salt
You're making me miss Salt Lake--but I love my new SoCal sunshine a little more :) Also--what!?--I follow your husband Justin Wheatley on Instagram. I love his work. What a cool surprise!
