We used to live in Bountiful and discovered the city's Chalk Art Festival that they host every Spring. The kids have really grown to love it, so we made our annual pilgrimage back 'home' to check out all of this year's entries.
It is amazing and so inspiring to see these artists create absolute masterpieces on a rough, imperfect sidewalk square. Having 4 kids at home, I have definitely done my fair share of chalk art on the driveway and let's just say my drawings look nothing like what these guys were able to create.
They were using a nice, professional-quality chalk though so I have convinced myself that is the only reason for their superiority, I am sure ;)
We saw a lot of people covering their artwork with plastic, so we are hoping that most of the pieces survived the rain last night and you can still get out to see them. I just wish the weather would be a little more considerate and stay nice for at least a month following the festival because it really is so fun to walk to the park and see the bright, colorful images all along the sidewalk.

Disney for the win!
The event organizers were really thoughtful and worked to make the whole festival really family friendly. They even reserved a block of the sidewalk and provided a bunch of the big Crayola sidewalk chalk that kids and families could borrow to create their own masterpieces.

We went early on the first day, so a lot of the reserved spaces hadn't even started filling in yet. If you go back now, you should be able to see all 105 entries!
Plan about an hour stroll.
There is chalk available for anyone to draw with in a designated spot.
