Grant and his family own and opperate Heber Valley Cheese as well as the the dairy farm next door. It has been in the family for generations.
Even Grandma was there! Making swiss treats for everyone to sample.
When I saw Grandma I knew this was the real deal. You see, I was raised in a family business. And on any given day, there are 3 to 4 generations of family members at our family business. Some are there just to visit, some to work. But we all help out when we are needed. I have such a soft spot in my heart for small family businesses.
ok, now, can we talk about the cheese for a minute? We aren't talking about cheddar and swiss. No, no. They have flavors like Smoked Jalapeno Bacon Cheddar, Cinnamon Honey Cheddar, Orange Rosemary Cheddar, and Lavander! I couldn't pick a favorite. Believe me, I tried.
This fried cheese was a favorite. Then you dip in in the jelly! Unreal.
Also, samples of Ice Cream!
After sampling the best cheese in the state we headed outside to talk to Grants son and grandson and to see the baby calves that had just been in the parade.
They were not offering tours of the kitchen where they make the cheese because Swiss Days is so crazy, so we will be back to take a kitchen tour. We did make our way over to the dairy farm though, and we spent about 3 hours there! Feeding the cows, learning all about them, petting the calves and even zip lining by the creek. You can read more about the farm tour HERE.
