The Great Salt Lake is Pink at The Spiral Jetty 2019 | 12 Utah Staycations

Do you remember last year when we found out the Great Salt Lake was turning PINK?! Well, it's happening again! To find out why The Great Salt Lake is turning Pink head to our post from last year. We'd just finished eating at Idle Isle Cafe in Brigham City and we thought that NOW was the time to head to the Spiral Jetty and see the Pink Great Salt Lake too!

On our way out, we found this brand spanking NEW mural that's just been painting in Corrine! Located on Promontory Road. You literally, can't miss it if you drive through Corrine. Oh, and DO YOU DARE to swim in the Hot Springs of Corrine?

If you are heading to the Sprial Jetty, you might as well stop at Promontory Point to see the Golden Spike National Monument! There's usually a re-enactment and the trains run almost daily, so plan accordingly so you can see both. (Because there really isn't a whole lot else out there!)

After making a quick stop at Golden Spike National Monument we kept on going right out to The Spiral Jetty.

Man, we've gotten SOOO lucky with the weather on these Staycations! Once again, we found ourselves happily under clouds and some cool weather.

Usually, this trip out to The Spiral Jetty is SOOOo hot, we don't often actually go out to The Spiral Jetty.

Becuase it had just recently been so hot, there were salt crystals EVERYWHERE! It was white, crunchy and kind of like an out of world experience.

You've got to see this for yourselves if you haven't already.

Then as we got closer and closer we FOUND THE PINK WATER!

It was hard to capture the pinkness in photos. One spot would seem SOOO pink but then it would change once you actually stepped over to it. We went on September 9, so I'm sure the water is even pinker!

I would strongly suggest getting some family photos our here, it's SOO pretty right now.

We should have put the kids in their swimsuits and brought out the sand toys because we stayed for a while and the kids were pretty much soaked.

While some of the kids didn't have sandals, I'd strongly recommend it. The salt crystals are so pretty but just like stepping on a lego...soooo, wear some water shoes! There are some sandy spots, but you have to go out a ways to get to it.

Here's one photo that you can see just how pink some spots were!

We couldn't keep this tiny baby away from the water!

The way back is always sad. Usually, the kids are tired from playing, or the salty water and being sticky usually gets to them and everyone is just a little grumpy.

We made it back though! We took a relaxing walk around The Spiral Jetty and recouped some.

Random tip: Bring some extra water to rinse off your feet and legs. Your shoes will get real hard and crunchy after it dries.

Who's seen the horses out by Spiral Jetty? I'm not sure if they are wild or what, but they just always seem to be crossing the road right as we go by.

They are so majestic and look even more so when running through the fields.

What's next? Why food of course! We're off to Peach City for some shakes and burgers!
