Two Year ago we were visiting Vernal and Get Glazed invited us out to try their donuts. It was the first I saw The Salt Project made out of donuts and I almost cried. The donuts are freaking amazing. I’m more of a cake donut person, but I LOVE LOVE Get Glazed donuts. Get Glazed Donuts are made from scratch, made every day, made locally.
They even flip and hand drip their donuts. They aren’t light airy donuts, but more like a chewy, light donut. It’s hard to describe but man. They are so. Dang.good.
We loved watching the whole process.
This time, we were able to do a behind the scenes donut field trip. Anyone can schedule a behind the scenes field trip, just call and schedule!
Get Glazed has a secret recipe and Chris gets up at 2 AM every day to make the donuts! He makes all the dough and runs them through the donut cutter.
On National Donut Day, they made over 5,000 donuts!
For the small town of Vernal, that’s a lot of donuts! I think Chris said they use over 1,000 pounds of flour a day.
The kids got to decorate their own hot donuts and then eat them.
Normally, I don’t care about warm donuts, but these, these were SO. DANG. GOOD.
After our field trip, we had our first Vernal Salt Project Meet-Up at Get Glazed. It was so fun meeting the locals of Vernal.
We saw many of the locals through our Staycation and it was fun to have some familiar faces in new territory. We did notice that the people of Vernal are extremely friendly.
After eating more donuts and chatting with everyone we headed out to our first activity, off to Red Fleet Paddlefest!
