Last weekend, I took my two older girls, ages 5 and 7, and my stepmom to see the production of Forever Plaid, currently showing at the brand new Hale Center Theater in Sandy. If you've ever attended any show at Hale Center Theater's location in West Valley, you know that every single production is fantastic. The casting is always spot-on, the acting is superb, and the music (if the production is a musical) is wonderful  Forever Plaid is no exception. I actually had never seen (or heard of) Forever Plaid before, so I really had no idea what to expect. I was genuinely pleased and excited about the show, and came away feeling so happy!

If you're not familiar with Familiar Plaid, the story goes something like this: after suffering a tragic death by school bus, a barbershop-type boy band from the 1950's comes back to life in today's contemporary world to perform one last show for the audience. Although the story sounds sad, it's lighthearted, funny, and full of great music. My girls really enjoyed the show, as did everyone between the ages of 5 and 105. I was super impressed by the four actors who played the quartet band - each actor had an amazing singing voice and played multiple instruments. Also, the pianist and bassist who accompany the singers are unrivaled in terms of talent and ability. Forever Plaid is a must-see if you get the chance to see it! The show runs through November 14, so there's still time to check it out.

On another note, the new Hale Center Theater in Sandy is absolutely stunning and features two gorgeous theaters.  Forever Plaid is performed on the theater's proscenium thrust stage, which features awesome seating and more leg room per seat (an improvement from the West Valley location). The whole theater is only partly open, as the new centre stage is still under construction and is planned to open later this month. I was really impressed with how nice the new theater building is. The construction is beautiful and the finishes on the inside are lovely. The folks at Hale Center Theater have thought of everything. I'm excited to attend more shows in the future at the new location.
