City Creek Play Park | Field Trippin'

(So, Harmony was just here last week and was seriously wishing she had known this before shopping! She didn't even think about there being a play park.)

With the air quality seriously questionable these days (thanks, January inversion!), I find myself staying indoors more often with my kiddos.  But I can only stay inside for so long without going crazy!

Enter the City Creek Play Park.  Nestled within the food court in downtown Salt Lake City's City Creek Center, this gem of an indoor playground is completely free and awesome for your littles.

When you arrive at the food court, head to the south end to find the play area (it's right next to Subway).  Park your stroller (if you have one), ditch the kids' shoes, and let the littles get out all of that extra energy they've been saving up from the holiday sugar rush.

I take my kids here on a weekly basis.  They love climbing on the giant dinosaurs and playing tag and hide-and-go-seek.  They could literally play for hours if I let them.  Sometimes I do stay for hours.

If you've been to the City Creek Center but haven't taken your kids to the play area, drop everything and go this week.  The weather forecast is smoggy and grim, so make a play date with some other moms, grab lunch at the food court (which boasts such kid-friendly choices as McDonald's and Chick-Fil-A, as well as some finer dining options for the mommas - Taste of Red Iguana, Bocata, etc.), and let your kids run wild for a few hours.  I might see you there!

Helpful Tips
  • Park on the side of City Creek closer to Macy's, which is right next to the food court and the play area.
  • This play area is most appropriate for kids ages 1-6.  If you have older kids, it's best to take them somewhere else.
  • If you happen to arrive at City Creek on a Saturday at 10:00 am, you can feed the fish in the creek next to the food court!  Just head to the trout pond next to the customer service desk next to Macy's for some free fish feeding, which happens every Saturday at 10:00 am.
