Car Graveyard - WINTER EDITION

One hike that we always do every single winter and spring is the car graveyard hike. Why? Winter, the waterfall is incredible! It looks like an ice castle! And in the spring, the run off is so powerful, the falls are HUGE! This is also a super fun hike in the fall because its a little spooky with the old cars everywhere.

Summer is too hot for me, there is no shade on this hike, so it's a hard pass for me in the summer months.

Check out our full hiking guide HERE and which is also the fall edition.

There are 15 cars (that we have found) that have fallen off the canyon road above. Some are very old, some are newer. There are also rumors of this canyon being haunted!

My favorite part, at the end of the hike, you repel down to the waterfall!

It's very steep and you wouldn't be able to get down without the ropes. Thank you who ever put those up!

Winter hiking must haves: waterproof boots, an inexpensive puffer vest, and spikes. Depending on the day, I added a beanie or gloves

This is the river! Totally iced over other than this watering hole.

I always love when y'all stop me and say hi! This community is amazing!

Helpful Tips

Directions to Farmington Canyon Trail Head:  Drive like you are going to Farmington Pond, but instead of following the sign to "parking" take the right fork and head up the canyon on Farmington Canyon Rd. There will be a large dirt parking on your left, keep going straight ahead until you pass the National Forest sign. The trailhead is located 1.6 miles passed the Wasatch National Forest sign. You will see a dirt parking straight ahead. Park there. The trail head is in the northeast corner of the parking lot. And goes straight up!

In the winter, the gate is closed. You can park at the bottom, plan on adding an additional mile up and back to reach the trailhead. Totally worth it btw.
