5 things to add to your Sundance SUMMER Bucket List
Sundance in the Summer is so beautiful! We have only been here in the fall for the Haunted Lift ride & Zip Line. So it was nice to go up without coats and jackets and really just enjoy the beautiful mountains and scenery.
We enjoyed three awesome activities while spending the day at Sundance. All were kid friendly, but would also make for an incredible date idea too.
#1 RIDING THE SKI LIFT
First up, we took the lift to the tippy top of the mountain. The sun was warm and the breeze was cool, we couldn't have picked a better day for this activity.
#60 views from the top.
If you look close, you can see Bridal Veil Falls
And on the other side, Deer Creek Reservoir.
#2 NACHOS AT BEAR CLAW
The views along are worth the trip, but you can't go to the top and not stop in at the Bear Claw for their famous nachos.
The service was top notch and the food was definitely worth a trip up the mountain.
We also got a couple orders of tacos, they were gone before I even got to taste one.
And of course we had to wash our nachos down with some ice cream because, that view!
Berdee living her best life at the top of the mountain.
Heading back down the mountain. The full ride to the top is about 40 minutes.
I spy some fall leaves on the mountain side!
#3 TAKE A CLASS AT THE ART STUDIO
After lunch at Bear Claw, we made our way over to the little art studio at Sundance. I had no idea they had an art studio. It was charming in every way possible. They have a list of classes available by reservation, and some drop in classes too. They also have classes for kids.
Berdee and Wells (ages 6 & 2) had their own private art class while the rest of us were taking our own class learning how to throw a pot.
Their instructor went above and beyond helping them create little masterpieces.
I spy a cat & Lightening McQueen piggy banks in the making.
I haven't done this since High School over 20 years ago. And I never thought I would have the opportunity to learn again with my kids by my side. This was the BEST family activity! We had a blast, we learned something knew, and we cheered each other on to try again when our pots went flying off the wheel.
Ok, not bad for my first time since high school. I just wish I could do this every week!
Back to the littles. They finished up their banks with some glaze.
They display art from various artists every couple weeks.
How cute is this candle making station.
We did it! We all created a masterpiece at the Sundance Studio! We did a lot of fun stuff on this staycation, but this was definitely the cherry on top.
#4 WALK THE TRAIL
The walking trail winds through Sundance. It is paved, dog friendly and has several bridges.
#5 COOL OFF BY THE RIVER
What started as a cool place to sit and wait for our art class to start, quickly turned into a double dog dare to submerge a body into the freezing river.
And thats a wrap! We LOVED spending such a beautiful summer day up at Sundance Resort. The kids loved every minute of it and we made some great memories. It was the perfect end to such an amazing staycation to Utah County.
Be sure to make reservations for the art studio before hand
