2019 Goals: Donate Kidney, Hike Angels landing
I love the beginning of a new year. I love sitting down and making sure my priorities are in order, setting goals, and planning out our year.
This year at the top of my list are two things that are going to be super hard for me physically. 1st on the agenda is to hike Angels Landing! I hiked it a couple years ago and it was such an incredible experience. But, it didn't come easy. I knew it would be the hardest hike I've ever done (not an avid hiker here) and I wanted to be ready for it. I started hitting the gym 6 months before the hike. I had a baby and was super out of shape at the time. I'm sure I could have made it to the top without working out, but I guarantee that it would have been a miserable experience .
Now, after having yet another baby, Angels Landing is back on my list this year! But, before I can check that hike off my list, I have something super important to take care of. My little sis is in need of a kidney transplant after her 14 year transplant went into rejection a few months ago. I couldn't donate to her 14 years ago because, you guessed it, another baby. I swear you guys, I only have 5 kids.
I have been undergoing testing for the last month and have passed them all with flying colors. We are only waiting on 1 last test (the tissue test) and if we are a tissue match then we are going for it!
I know that donating a kidney is a big deal and that the recovery is harder for the donor. So I have been working out at Anytime Fitness 5x a week for the last 5 months so that I can get in the best shape of my life for when that call comes. I know the recovery will be hard, but I'm still setting a goal to not only hike Angels Landing, but to kill it on that hike! I want to be strong enough to get to the top!
I just wanted to give a shoutout to Anytime in Layton & Clinton. You guys, I feel so at home at this gym. I go everyday around the same time and love seeing all the friendly familiar faces of those that I have come to call my workout peeps. They are there with me everyday, pushing for something better and they are so inspiring, these people that I don't even know. We just smile and head nod and bust it and jam to our headsets together.
One thing I love most about Anytime is that they are open 24hr and they are never crowded. I have never had to wait for a machine.
Here's to hitting your New Year goals! Good luck everyone!
