Camping at the dunes with IMPORT MOTOR WERX
After an eternal winter and record breaking snow fall, Easter weekend was forecast to bring more snow, so we headed west to the desert for some sunshine. Mid April and this was literally the first "warm" day for 2023. And by warm, I mean 60's. At this point we were just grateful to see the sun!
Our camper was still buried under 4 ft of snow in our backyard, so we helped our friends break in their new bus, and crashed with them for the night. Whats 6 more people and a giant puppy? I'm sure they didn't even notice we were there lol. I think we had a total of 12 people and 3 dogs.
Dan spent the better part of the morning installing an American hitch onto our Turbo Diesel Land Rover Discovery from Great Britain that we had imported here last year from Import Motor Werks. Finally got it on but its to hight for our trailer lol. So we have to get an extender. Luckily our friends had room in their trailer for some of our bikes so the kids could ride at the dunes.
Also, this was Winifreds 1st camping experience and our first time camping with a dog. So I was a little nervous. She still sleeps in a crate at home, so letting her run free in a bus was going to be interesting. Luckily she did great! Although she barked in the middle of the night when our friend Darren came out of the back room to let his pup out. Nice to know she will warn us of danger if anyone ever tried to break in.
She also stayed around camp which was awesome with so many bikes and people and dogs around. I thought I would need to tie her up. But she never strayed and even stayed close when we went off riding.
She loves her seat in the back of the Disco
This stretch of road on the way to Delle was so beautiful. Water on both sides.
Oh, ya, there was a lot of mud since all the snow had just melted. Winnie loved it. I did not. Luckily it dried fast so she was just dusty.
It was Easter weekend so we had a little egg hunt for the kids in the bus.
Dang dog thinks shes human. I couldn't keep her down.
why tho
Hope you enjoyed our weekend camping photo dump. It really was the most beautiful weather and the kids had non stop fun.
