Don’t be discouraged that summer is almost over. It’s not too late to take a $3 getaway to Greece for the weekend. Beginning Friday, September 11th, at the Holy Trinity Cathedral campus in Salt Lake City, visitors can experience the sights, sounds and tastes of Greece. There is so much to do at the festival; from eating Greek food dishes, church and museum tours, to watching and participating in traditional Greek dances.

Salt Lake City has one of the largest Greek communities. Beginning in 1935, The Mothers Organization, who we now refer to as Philoptochos Society, started the Bazaar which was held in the basement of the church and later in the Memorial Cultural Center. Today, the festival has expanded into the largest cultural event in Utah.

The Festival has had as many as 50,000 visitors during the weekend event. People throughout the Salt Lake Valley come together to make this annual event memorable. The Greek Orthodox Church of Greater Salt Lake also sets aside funds every year from the festival to support many charities in our community.

From gyros to baklava, first-time festival goers should prepare themselves for a world of different flavors. Broaden your horizons and come join us for a weekend of Greek food, dancing and culture.
